What is not to love about custard, right!?

Did you know that "frozen" custard originated in Coney Island, New York in 1919? Ice cream vendors Archie and Elton Kohr experimented with adding egg yolks to ice cream, creating a smoother, richer, and slower-melting product. Initially, this new treat was called 'Frozen Dessert' and it was an instant success! The Kohr brothers later changed the name to "Frozen Custard' because their product didn't quite meet the standards for ice cream and they didn't like the name 'Frozen Custard'.
The recipe for frozen custard was adapted from European custards and brought to the US by immigrants. It gained popularity on the East Coast and the Midwest, with the 1933 World's Fair in Chicago playing a significant role in popularizing it in the Midwest. By the 1930s, custard stands began appearing in various cities across the region, like Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is now known as the "Frozen Custard Capital of the World."
National Frozen Custard Day is celebrated every year on August 8th!
