SideTracked - Telopea

Telopea Station, situated in the western Sydney suburb of Telopea, has a rich history dating back to its opening on 13 June 1925. Initially a single-platform station on the Carlingford line, it was established following local petitions for improved transport services. The station contributed significantly to the area's development.

In 2015, plans were announced to convert the Carlingford line, including Telopea Station, into a light rail as part of the Parramatta Light Rail project. The original Telopea Station closed on 5 January 2020 to allow for this transformation. The newly converted Telopea Light Rail Station opened on 20 December 2024, featuring enhanced facilities and a second platform to accommodate the modern light rail vehicles. This redevelopment has significantly improved connectivity for Telopea residents, linking them more effectively to key areas in Western Sydney.
