As it is Easter time I thought I would resurrect a Church Micro... it kinda seemed appropriate!
This hide is VERY close to a road, so it's not really ideal for small children. The road isn't super busy most of the time but care is required. Unfortunately, due to proximity issues with other nearby caches, hide locations were rather limited.
This cache is a replacement for GC2ZA2D which was the original CM placed at this church by Villawoman. The text below has been taken from the original cache page:
St Mary Magdalene Ruckinge
The parish church of St Mary Magdalene Ruckinge, with other Norman churches on the 'Clay Hills' which separate Romney Marsh from the Weald, is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.
It was in the Hundred of Newchurch, and stands at the foot of higher ground close to St Mary Magdalene Ruckinge the Royal Military Canal, overlooking the Marsh.
An ancient spelling of the village name was Ruckinges, which probably meant 'Rough Meadow'.
The main structure of the building is of 12th Century origin, although there was previously a Saxon church on this site. The top of the tower was rebuilt during the 13th Century. Most of the windows date from the 14th Century, when the church was largely rebuilt. The structure has hardly changed since. If you dont sign the log book then dont log it online. Thank you.
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
