Kepirohi Falls on the Island of Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. Requires a 1/2 mile hike up a gently sloping trail, which gets rocky and slippery towards the end.
The only significant difficulty in reaching this cache is getting to the Island of Pohnpei (in the Federated States of Micronesia) in the first place. The cache site can be reached by a short hike (over a rocky and occasionally slippery 1/2 mile path) from the main road around the island.
We came most of the way to the falls by boat, after a long day snorkeling, sea kayaking and visiting the nearby Nan Madol (5th - 12th century megalithic city) ruins. A nice, cool, fresh water shower was just what we needed after a long day mostly spent immersed in salt water. These falls are 70 feet in height, and are probably the most popular of the island's many waterfalls. Be careful about ingesting the water, as there is a lamentably high prevalence of contaminated water on this beautiful island.
I visited the falls on April 21, 2002, during a business trip to the FSM, and logged many other lovely virtual waypoints throughout the reefs and islands of Micronesia.
This is a virtual cache, so please validate your visit by posting a photo of you and your GPS in front of the falls.
