ART IN THE PARK: TRA Stage Hands and Groupies!
Join myself and visiting from Idaho, etcruzr, my Team Rock Album bandmate (and step-dad), for a wonderful time in the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park. As per TRA event standards, there will be a fabulous logbook for you to sign, one of a kind and brand new, commemorating the band getting together! Then you can join u for some fun guitar decoration of your own as mini paint kits and guitar canvases shall be provided. You can also use the time before or after the event to explore this wonderful park and all the various sites it has to offer, or check out some of the wonderful geocaches in the area, up to you.
So, the info:
- Location: Marshall Gold Discovery State Park
- Picnic Table area behind the old Chinese Store
- Date: Sunday, June 29th, 2025
- Time: 11:00AM-12:00 (or later)… (come when you want, leave when you want)
- Bring: 😷 if desired, bring yourself, Bring paints if you want a wider variety (paint kits are basic colors), bring a sense of creativity and fun
I will have paint pens for signing, please no stamps (they bleed and run when I spray finish these, and I hang these logbooks in my classroom when finished). This is a special TRA logbook you are gonna want to see.
PARKING:
- There is a fee to PArk, $10 parking fee per car, $9 for seniors.
- California States Parks Pass works if you have one
- If you don't have a pass but want to prepare, you can check these out from the Library (supplies limited) as well for a day use pass
THE PARK:
James W. Marshall discovered gold in 1848 on the South Fork of the American River in the valley the Nisenan Indians knew as Cullumah (beautiful valley). This event led to the greatest mass movement of people in the Western Hemisphere and was the spark that ignited the spectacular growth of the West during the ensuing decades. The gold discovery site, located in the still visible tailrace of Sutter's sawmill in present day Coloma, California, is one of the most significant historic sites in the nation.
In 1848, James W. Marshall found shining flecks of gold in the tailrace of the sawmill he was building in partnership with John Sutter. This discovery changed the course of California's and the nation's history. See a replica of the original sawmill and over 20 historic buildings including a mining exhibit, Chinese store exhibits and schoolhouse exhibit.

THE ACTIVITY:
I will have a varitey of painting kits available for people (while they last depending on turn out size). There are a varitey of guitar shaes and basic paint kits. I will have water to wash prushes and all that too. I thought this was a nice place to view some nature and draw some inspiration or to attempt to paint a scene. And perhaps you can have a nice, lovely, painted guitar and in true TRA fashion, turn it into a logbook for one of your future events! Or you can just have some fun and make a pretty little guitar! Not only will I have the paint kits, I will have the paint pens for the logbook and you can use these as well for some of those finer details.
So get creative and lets have some fun! Art in the Park. Paint a gitar, explore, go pan for gold, you do you, just bring some joy and be ready to have a good time.
