Cerkev sv. Andreja v Kašlju je pomemben del zgodovine župnije Ljubljana – Kašelj/Zalog.
Prvič je bila omenjena v pisnih virih leta 1520, kar nakazuje na njeno dolgoletno prisotnost v tem območju.
Obstajajo tudi domneve o pomembnosti te lokacije že v rimskih časih, kar daje cerkvi dodatno zgodovinsko vrednost.
Leta 1895 je velikonočni potres močno poškodoval cerkev sv. Andreja, vendar so jo verniki hitro obnovili in ji povrnili prvotno stanje.
Župnija Ljubljana – Kašelj/Zalog je bila ustanovljena 28. decembra 1975 z dekretom Nadškofijskega ordinarijata.
Takrat je cerkev sv. Andreja v Kašlju postala župnijska cerkev, nekdanja kaplanija pa se je preoblikovala v župnišče z uradnimi prostori nove župnije in bivališčem župnika.
Zaradi naraščajočega števila vernikov in potrebe po večjem prostoru se je porodila ideja o gradnji nove župnijske cerkve. Kljub temu cerkev sv. Andreja ostaja pomemben simbol verskega in kulturnega izročila tega območja.
Cerkev je bila leta 2025 obnovljena, vendar so zvonovi še vedno zvonili in je med tem prost dostop do kraja.

The Church of St. Andrew in Kašelj is an important part of the history of the Ljubljana – Kašelj/Zalog parish.
It was first mentioned in written sources in 1520, which indicates its long-standing presence in the area.
There are also assumptions about the importance of this location as early as Roman times, which gives the church additional historical value.
In 1895, the Easter earthquake severely damaged the Church of St. Andrew, but the faithful quickly rebuilt it and restored it to its original condition.
The Ljubljana – Kašelj/Zalog Parish was established on December 28, 1975 by decree of the Archdiocesan Ordinariate.
At that time, the Church of St. Andrew in Kašelj became the parish church, and the former chaplaincy was transformed into a rectory with the official premises of the new parish and the residence of the pastor.
Due to the growing number of believers and the need for more space, the idea of building a new parish church was born.
Nevertheless, the Church of St. Andrew remains an important symbol of the religious and cultural tradition of this area.
The church has undergone renovation in 2025 but the bells were still ringing and there is free access to the place during it.
