Село Светлина е разположено на северното подножие на планината Странджа, на 8 km от Средец и на 38 km от Бургас.
Първите му заселници идват от Добруджа и кръщават селото Бегли. Търсейки удобно за препитание място и близостта на реката, няколко пъти са се местили. Заради честите набези на черкезите, те се обръщат за закрила към местния бей, който имал чифлик наблизо. След това селото вече се е наричало Бейова махала или Бей махле.
През 1853 г. е посетено от първия български екзарх Антим I , който е пътувал от родното си село Вейсала за Видин. Среща се с тогавашния свещеник в селото и му подарява псалтир на черковно-славянски и фермана, с който Високата порта дава църковна независимост на Българската православна църква.
Апостолът на свободата Васил Левски също е минал през с. Светлина на път за Лозенград.
След освобождението на България селото е преименувано на Господарево, а през 1951г. придобива сегашното си име - Светлина.
Днес в него живеят около 200 души.

The village Svetlina is located at the northern foot of the Strandzha mountain, 8 km from Sredets and 38 km from Burgas.
Its first settlers came from Dobrudzha and named the village Begli. Looking for a convenient place for livelihood and the proximity of the river, they moved several times. Because of the frequent raids of the Circassians, finally asked for the protection the local lord (Bay on Turkish), who had a farm nearby. After that the village was called Beyova mahala or Bey mahle.
In 1853, it was visited by the first Bulgarian exarch Antim I, who traveled from his native village of Veysala to Vidin. He met the local priest and gave him as a gift a psalter and the decree for the independence of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
The Bulgarian national hero of the struggle for liberation from Turkish slavery, so called "apostle of freedom" Vasil Levski also passed through the village of Svetlina on his way to Lozengrad.
After the liberation of Bulgaria, the village was renamed Gospodarevo, and in 1951 it acquired its current name - Svetlina.
Today, about 200 people live there
