April is CITO month for the GGA! This CITO will be hosted by Geostitch10 at Antioch Baptist Church in Woolsey. If you have not had an opportunity to earn the 2025 Season 1 CITO souvenir this is a great time to get it. You can also earn a brand new GGA CITO pathtag for participating as well as qualify for other prizes!
We will be asssisting with landscaping cleanup of the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. This cemetery has a rich history for African American's in the Fayette County area. This cemetary has been a passion project for church member Donna Hann, who will stop by and can share the history with attendees. Fellow GGA Cacher Disneygroup's Girl Scout Troop #16099 has helped maintain this site for the past 6 years. They have helped with landscape clean up, built & painted wooden crosses for graves, and placed flowers at each grave. We are hoping we can clear an even bigger area so more graves can receive the respect they deserve. The girl scout troop will come at a later time to place more crosses and refresh flowers at the graves.
Please dress accordingly for landscaping work, keeping in mind for ticks, spiders and snakes. Bring gloves, rakes, pruning shears, clippers and other typical landscaping tools. We are also looking for a couple of wheelbarrows, tarps, and a pickup truck to make hauling the clippings to the wooded area of the church property easier. Also, if you can bring donations of artificial flowers for the troop to use, that would be appreciated!
We will provide plenty of water and snacks. We look forward to seeing you there!
