Deep in the heart of Rotorua’s geothermal hum, just above a quiet waterway, lives a wise old frog named Tūwhakarana—or Tū for short. For 25 years, he’s been the silent guardian of this pipe, watching adventurers leap from cache to cache with muddy boots and GPS in hand.
When geocaching first came to town, Tū made a pact: he’d stash away a special banner to mark the day geocachers celebrated their silver anniversary. That day has come, and the banner is still safe inside his pipey hideaway. But there’s a catch (of course there is).
Tū’s memory isn’t what it used to be, so instead of writing down the word to open the pipe, he jotted down the numbers. Four of them. That was easier for his webbed fingers to type on his old phone... back when phones had buttons.
If you want what’s inside, you’ll need to think like Tū.
Not too tricky, not too deep.
He picked a code he’d never forget:
a creature with legs built to leap.
Once you’ve guessed the word, try pressing the matching keys—just like the old texting days. No autocorrect, just intuition... and maybe a little croak of luck.
