Geocaching NSW would like to invite the Geocaching community to join us at Yerranderie Regional Park campground on Mervyn Road, Yerranderie, on Saturday the 21st of June from 6pm until 8pm for an informal get-together.
You will feel like you have stepped into a forgotten time in Yerranderie Regional Park. It is located along the Oberon-Colong historic stock route, which is recommended as 4WD only, but is currently in good condition.
The campground allows you to absorb the incredible, rugged wilderness, with a rich array of native wildlife, including macropods, wombats and native mountain birds. There are BBQ facilities, drinking water, showers and toilets. Sites are unmarked and unpowered.
The historic township and mine workings are only a short distance away.
There is also basic accommodation nearby at Yerranderie Private Town, an early mining settlement where you can explore a NSW ghost town that has been lovingly preserved, with many relics remaining.
The campground is in a remote location, please arrive well prepared. The nearest fuel stop and shops for supplies are in Oberon. There is NO mobile phone reception.
A group of geocachers will be going for a walk on the Sunday morning to find geocaches nearby, anyone is welcome to join in.
