Spejande sjömannen är en skulptur i Västervik. Den kom till när Västervik firade 500-årsjubileum 1933 och är utförd i diabas från trakten. Det var den Västerviksfödde konstnären Ragnar Alyre som ritade skissen till statyn. Av denna skiss tillverkade skulptören Sten Flink en gipsmodell, och sedan var det dags för stenhuggarna David Karlsson och Fridolf Gustavsson att börja bearbeta själva stenen. Till själva sjömannen krävdes ett granitblock på hela 14 ton som hämtades från ön Vinö kalv norr om Västervik i Tjusts skärgård. Sjömannen är två meter hög och tillsammans med fundamentet, som ritades av arkitekten Albert Flink, sex och en halv meter hög totalt vilket gör statyn till en av de största friskulpturerna i sten i Sverige.
Tidigare var Spejande sjömannen placerad på Strömsholmen, nära holmens nordligaste punkt en bit väster om bron till Slottsholmen. Den flyttades 2004 ca 150 meter söderut, vid Inre hamnens norra ände, där han kan beskådas spejande mot inloppet. Statyn flyttades även på 1980-talet inom Strömsholmen. Ursprungligen stod den där Slottsholmsvägen går idag, i nordöstra delen av holmen öster om den dåvarande vägen och bron. Flytten gjordes i samband med omdragningen av Slottsholmsvägen och bygget av den nya Slottsholmsbron. Under byggnadsfasen var den förvarad på Västerviks kommuns materialgård vid Stora Trädgårdsgatan.

The Watchful Sailor is a sculpture in Västervik. It was created when Västervik celebrated its 500th anniversary in 1933 and is made of diabase from the local area. The sketch for the statue was drawn by the Västervik-born artist Ragnar Alyre. From this sketch, sculptor Sten Flink created a plaster model, after which stonemasons David Karlsson and Fridolf Gustavsson began working on the actual stone. For the sailor figure itself, a granite block weighing a full 14 tons was required, which was sourced from the island of Vinö Kalv north of Västervik in the Tjust archipelago. The sailor is two meters tall, and together with the base — which was designed by architect Albert Flink — the total height is six and a half meters, making the statue one of the largest free-standing stone sculptures in Sweden.
Previously, the Watchful Sailor was located on Strömsholmen, near the northernmost point of the islet, a bit west of the bridge to Slottsholmen. In 2004, it was moved approximately 150 meters south, to the northern end of the Inner Harbor, where he can now be seen watching over the harbor entrance. The statue was also moved during the 1980s within Strömsholmen. Originally, it stood where Slottsholmsvägen runs today, in the northeastern part of the islet east of the then-existing road and bridge. That relocation was made in connection with the rerouting of Slottsholmsvägen and the construction of the new Slottsholms Bridge. During the construction phase, the statue was stored at the Västervik municipality's storage yard on Stora Trädgårdsgatan.
