May 2, 2000
In the Geocaching community, this is known as "Blue Switch Day"
This commemorates the day in 2000 when the U.S. government lifted the Selective Availability restriction on the Global Positioning System (GPS), making precise GPS technology accessible to the public. This event is significant because it enabled the widespread use of GPS, including the popular outdoor activity of geocaching.
In order to celebrate, let's get together for a dinner (no purchase required) and talk about how geocaching has affected our lives over the last 25 years. How we have met friends, traveled the world, seen some beautiful sites, and found all those caches!
Location: Plaza Mariachi Mexican Restaurant
15325 Old Town Dr. Unit 119
Parkville, MO
Time: 5:30pm-6:30pm
There will be multiple new caches published at the same time. If interested, bring your walking shoes or a bike to head on down the trail.
