The Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center is a small building that offers visitors informative exhibits about the lagoon’s history, ecology, and the diverse wildlife that calls it home. Inside, you'll find displays showcasing animal bones and Native American artifacts, as well as information on conservation efforts aimed at preserving this vital habitat.
The nature center is a great starting point for exploring the lagoon, with easy access to the surrounding trails. These paths wind through the lagoon's wetlands, where you can observe a variety of birds, such as herons, egrets, and pelicans, as well as other wildlife like small mammals and reptiles. The center also offers educational programs and guided walks, allowing visitors to learn more about the unique ecosystems of the lagoon and its role in the local environment. It’s a peaceful place to connect with nature and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of wetlands in coastal areas.
Special thanks to Chet Kinzelberg (Chet13) for creating this series in partnership with the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation.
