Moosehead is Canada’s oldest independent brewery having been founded in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1867. It is privately owned and operated by the Oland family and is in its sixth generation of family ownership. It has a four percent share of the Canadian beer market and with all the other major competitors owned by multi-nationals, Moosehead is now the largest fully Canadian-owned brewer. Moosehead Pale Ale and their light beer Cracked Canoe were favourites from my years in Ontario.
Moosehead recently announced that it was selling a pallet of beer with 1,400 cans of beer on it – one for each day of the remaining presidency south of the border.
