Ballendella
Ballendella, located in the Rochester Irrigation District of Victoria, is a rural locality with historical significance dating back to 1840 as part of the Restdown Plains pastoral run. Named after an Aboriginal guide, irrigation transformed the area in 1906, leading to diverse agricultural activities including dairying and orchards. The community established a school in 1912, a church in 1915, and a hall in 1913. Though horticulture waned by the 1960s, Ballendella's Guernsey cattle stud was renowned for butterfat content in 1953. Despite closures of the school, church, and general store, the hall remains a symbol of its enduring heritage.
