Did you know???
The originators of "Southern Rock" music, the Allman Brothers Band, called Macon, GA home throughout their 45-year career. In 1972 the band purchased 432-acres in nearby Juliette, GA, nicknamed "The Farm”. Guitarist Dickey Betts while driving down the driveway one morning on his way to the store for groceries, discovered a movie crew blocking the driveway filming " Return to Macon County". He became friendly with the cast and crew including young, up and coming star actors Nick Nolte and Don Johnson. Dickey has said “I drove my new friends Don & Nick way back in the woods to see a beautiful local natural waterfall, during a break in filming. I had brought my guitar. As they explored, there was a lot of time that I was not doing anything, so I just sat down there beside the falls and wrote a melody called “High Falls. The instrumental became a highlight of the 1975 Allman Brothers Band "Win Lose or Draw” album.
