Lama Monachile, così chiamata perché anticamente frequentata dalla foca monaca, è una profonda insenatura, incastonata nella scogliera frastagliata di Polignano a Mare. E sorta sul letto di un torrente millenario che sfociava nel Mare Adriatico ed e anche conosciuta come Cala Porto. Oggi rappresenta una delle gemme balneari della Puglia, ubicata all'ingresso di Pólignano ed a breve distanza dal suo centro storico. La spiaggia, che offre uno scenario da sogno, è accessibile attraverso Ponte Monachile, di origine romana, costruito sul tracciato della storica via Traiana. Le sue acque türchesi con ciottoli bianchi sono state premiate con la prestigiosa Bandiera Blu e le 4 Vele di Legambiente ed è proprio qui che si tuffano i campioni della Red Bull Cliff Diving. Il panorama è arricchito dalla presenza di caratteristiche casette bianche, che creano un piacevole contrasto tra natura ed architettura. Le grotte intorno alla baia, inoltre, rendono il paesaggio ancora più suggestivo.
Lama Monachile, called this way because of the ancient presence of the monk seal, is a deep inlet nestled in the jagged cliffs of Polignano aMare. It rose on the bed of a thousand-year-old stream that flowed into the Adriatic Sea and is also known as Cala Porto. Today it is one ofApulia's seaside gems, located at the entrance of Polignano and at a short distance from its historic centre.The beach, which offers abreathtaking scenery, is accessible through Ponte Monachile, of Roman origin, built on the route of the historical Via Traiana. Its turquoise water with white pebbles has been awarded the prestigious 'Bandiera Blu' (Blue Flag) and the 4 Vele (4 Sails) by Legambiente, and this is where theRed Bull Cliff Diving champions dive. The view is enriched by the presence of characteristic white houses, which create a beautiful contrast between nature and architecture. The caves around the bay make the landscape even more suggestive.
Lama Monachile, so genannt, weil sie früher von Mönchsrobben frequentiert wurde, ist eine tiefe Bucht, die in die zerklüftete Klippe von Polignano a Mare eingebettet ist. Sie entstand auf dem Bett eines tausendjährigen Baches, der in die Adria mündete und auch als Cala Porto bekannt ist. Heute ist es eines der Badejubelde Apuliens, das sich am Eingang von Pólignano und nicht weit von seinem historischen Zentrum entfernt befindet. Der Strand, der eine traumhafte Kulisse bietet, ist über die Monachile-Brücke römischen Ursprungs erreichbar, die auf der Strecke der historischen Via Traiana gebaut wurde. Die türkisen Gewässer mit weißen Kieselsteinen wurden mit der prestigeträchtigen Blauen Flagge und den 4 Segeln von Legambiente ausgezeichnet, und genau hier tauchen die Red Bull Cliff Diving-Champions ein. Das Panorama wird durch das Vorhandensein charakteristischer weißer Häuser bereichert, die einen angenehmen Kontrast zwischen Natur und Architektur schaffen. Die Höhlen rund um die Bucht machen die Landschaft noch eindrucksvoller.
