Titlow Beach Cache
The coordinates above are for the parking area.
This geocache offers magnificent views of the Puget Sound, speeding
trains, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Only half a mile from parking to cache. Great on a
bike, at night, or on a bike at night.
Stay on the trails and away from the railroad
tracks!
Bring a compass; it will make finding this cache much easier. All
bearings are magnetic north; DO NOT apply a magnetic variation to the bearings below. (Mag is the
default setting of all compasses)
The route is as follows:
- Park at N47 15.081 W122 32.900
Unload bikes if necessary, proceed to
- Bridge at N47 15.250 W122 33.031
Checkpoint. Watch trains go by.
- Bear left at N47 15.130 W122 33.136
- Turn Right at N47 15.006 W122 33.100
- Stand in the clearing at N47 15.012
W122 33.136 Now, using your compass, project an imaginary line on a bearing of
310 degrees mag.
- Stand at the crotch of the beached log at N47 15.016 W122 33.147 Using your compass, project an imaginary line
on a bearing of 105 degrees mag.
- The intersection of these two imaginary lines is the cache location.
NOTE: The coordinates above are helpful but by no
means necessary. Using either of the last two sets will get you close enough. The intent
is to prevent needless bushwhacking which could expose the cache location.
The cache container is a weather resistant box, medium-small in size,
and is chock full of great treasures. Please note in the logbook what you take/leave and don't
trade down! The logbook is stuck to the inside lid by two magnets.
It is IMPERATIVE that you re-hide the cache
container well! The foliage is sparse this time of year and there is a risk of geomuggles
inadvertently finding it. Also, please don't remove any dead limbs or otherwise clear the area
around the cache. After logging your find, step back and make sure it looks the same when you leave
as it did when you arrived. Watch out for hikers while the cache is exposed.
