If you're anything like me, you sang the cache name to the tune of the theme song! Did you know that Dover, NH is the birthplace of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? As a kid who grew up around here in the late 80s/early 90s, I didn't play Barbie. I played Turtles! Donatello has always been my favorite, since he is the smart one. This walkable (less than 1 mile in total) multi will bring you to some interesting pieces of history of our heroes in a half shell (turtle power!)

Stage One- Posted Coordinates WP 1
You're standing at the original home of Mirage Studios where Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman first dreamed and sketched TMNT in 1984. “We called it Mirage Studios because it wasn’t actually a studio, it was our living room,” said Eastman. The item you're looking at is usually found in the road, but as this one is commemorative, it's on the sidewalk. Unveiled on November 8th, 2023, this marker was paid for entirely by crowdfunding, to the tune of $13,000. The art on the item was created by Eastman himself, who originally illustrated the turtles.

Stage 2- Posted Coordinates WP 2
The 289th historical highway marker in the state, this was unveiled on same date as WP1. The creators borrowed money from one of their uncles and self-published the first turtles comic book. 3000 black and white copies were printed, with a selling price of $1.50. In the "studio", the boxes the books were stored in were used as tables. "And then this crazy thing happened: You guys started buying them," said Eastman at the dedication.
