It's the last CITO this spring as the mosquitos will soon be out in full force! Come and help maintain a forest restoration site in beautiful Ladner Harbour Park! It's a community park with a unique combination of forest and working harbour (wharf and marina on the Fraser River). You'll be helping the City of Delta to keep the forest healthy.
Date: Sunday, May 11, 2024
Time: 10:30 am to noon
Park: Ladner Harbour Park
Activity: Invasive species (ivy) removal and new plantings.
We'll be doing a variety of tasks including keeping invasive plants from crowding trees by trimming and pulling ivy. We'll also have 40 new plants to put in the ground in an area that we've already cleared of ivy. We'll be planting sword fern, salmonberry, snowberry, thimbleberry, grand fir, and baldhip rose.
For those of you who attended the April 6th CITO, we'll be continuing our work along the trail to the west.
Some work gloves will be available but if possible please bring your own gloves. Tools will be provided. The event will run rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather and activity.
Parking: is available in two places: 1) at the marina close to the CITO worksite, and 2) next to the washrooms and picnic shelter. If you park in the latter carpark, it's a 4 min walk along the trail to the CITO worksite.
