Please do not attempt to reach this cache via Mill Road, the road you see coming off it on your app is a paper road and does not exist. Come in off Wooded Hill Road onto Lookout Road.
I would not attempt to reach this cache in a campervan or large vehicle as there is little space to safely turn around. If you are not comfortable with driving on single lane gravel roads, avoid this cache.
Please also note that while Lookout Road is a public road, it is also used as farm access by the surrounding farm owners.
Be aware of livestock or farming activity and drive slow around corners.
At the end of Lookout Road, you get a spectacular view of Northern West Otago, being able to easily look well into neighbouring Central Otago on a clear day. As the road name implies, there is a former fire lookout stationed back up the hill that was employed in spotting smoke in the surrounding area, sounding the alarm for local fire brigades. However, with the need for such lookouts being replaced by 111 services the tower would be sold off becoming a private residence. The tower itself is hard to see from the road unfortunately, as trees have long since grown around the tower shielding it from its former watch.
The cache you are looking for is a small sandwich-spread jar with a green lid containing a log and a pencil. Please take care to put it back in its spot so it stays hidden.
