Wisborough Green War Memorial

The Wisborough Green Memorial lists the names of 31 men who fought in both World War I and World War II. It shows that 21 men fought in WW1 and 10 fought in WW2.
In WW2, Wisborough Green experienced the first air attack on West Sussex on February 10, 1940, when the village was machine gunned by Germans. The reason why the village was machine gunned is unkown, but it was likely they were searching for airfields in the area.
Hawkhurst Court, located just outside of Wisborough Green, played a role by hosting Canadian soldiers in WW2, some of whom preished during the Dieppe raid.
