Join us to clean up washed-up plastics along the shores of the Backwaters, our beautiful natural environment which is an SSSI and a RAMSAR site. It's the last day of the CITO season, and an opportunity to collect your CITO Season 1 Souvenir.
Meet in the farmyard of Walton Hall Farm, Old Hall Lane, Walton, CO14 8LF at 10.30, where there is plenty of parking (with kind permission of the farmer). All equipment and bags will be provided.
Please notice the Terrain rating. This is because there is a walk of 1 km down an uneven lane to the coast , and then steep slopes down the sea wall to the foreshore to pick up washed-up plastics (this part is optional but this is where the rubbish is). There will then be at least a 1 km walk back to the car park, plus more walking along the sea wall to access more rubbish areas. There are Ad Labs and a couple of trads along this stretch, for anyone who hasn't already done them
Gloves and hand sanitiser will be provided, but as discarded litter on the foreshore may include the odd bit of fishing tackle, and occasionally broken glass, care will need to be taken.
There are cafe's at the nearby Naze car park, so refreshments will be available afterwards, but we will be bringing some cake, as we believe that cake is an essential part of the geocaching experience, especially home made cake, so any bakers amongst you feel free to bring cake along.
