A cache in the musical theatre series.
"Oh, there's no cure like travel
To help you unravel
The worries of living today
When the poor brain is cracking
There's nothing like packing
A suitcase and sailing away
Take a run 'round Vienna
Granada, Ravenna, Sienna
And then around Rome
Have a high time
A low time and in no time
You'll be singing "home, sweet home"
Bon Voyage..."
Bon Voyage features in Cole Porter's Anything Goes, a show which has charmed audiences since 1934. With a book originally by Guy Bolton and P. G. Wodehouse, later revised by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, the show is set aboard a cruise ship from New York to London and follows the story of Billy Crocker, a lovestruck stowaway, as he schemes with nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and gangster Moonface Martin to win heiress Hope Harcourt away from her aristocratic fiancé.
Bon Voyage is one of the earlier songs in the musical and is a lively ensemble number and sets the tone for the musical’s ocean-liner adventure, capturing the excitement of departure, as a mix of passengers and crew bid farewell as the cruise ship sets sail.
This cache has been appropriately placed at a location where if you time your visit carefully, you can witness for yourself a large cruise ship departing from the port, and there will quite often be several excited passengers on the deck of the cruise ship waving goodbye. I have very fond memories of being one of those passengers several years ago.
Note that the cache is not at the listed coordinates, but is only a short distance away. To determine the final coordinates, enter the name of the cruise ship featured in the musical, into Ceritude, WITH NO SPACES.
