About this Cache: Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton, born on January 11, 1755, in Charlestown, Nevis, was a founding father with a remarkable influence on the financial system of the United States. As an aide to George Washington during the Revolutionary War, he played a key role in the fight for independence. Hamilton was the primary author of the Federalist Papers, which argued for the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. As the first Secretary of the Treasury, he established the national bank, the United States Mint, and the federal tax system. Hamilton's vision for a strong central government and a robust financial system was crucial in stabilizing the early Republic.
