This Cache is placed as part of the 20255 New York State Park Central Region Geocache Challenge. There are approximately 80 geocaches hidden within 22 state parks and historic sites in this parks region, the first 150 people to find 45 or more caches will receive a special geocache challenge coin. Glimmerglass State Park, located eight miles outside the village of Cooperstown, overlooks Otsego Lake, the "Glimmerglass" of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. The rolling, partially-wooded terrain is host to a wide variety of wildlife. An uphill trail through the forest affords a spectacular view of Otsego Lake; the Beaver Pond and Woodland trails are picturesque and of interest for the variety of wildflowers, shrubs, ferns and mosses.
