Geocache Description:

The statue just across the road from this cache is a monument to the work of cartoonist William “Bud” Neill. The two-legged horse, El Fideldo (nicknamed Elfie), is being ridden by Lobey Dosser and his nemesis Rank Bajin. Created by Bud Neill, Lobey was the sheriff of Calton Creek—a fictional Arizona town populated by Scottish immigrants. The comic, known for its Glasgow dialect, ran in the Evening Times from 1949 to 1956 and gained a cult following in Scotland. Bud Neill, who turned to cartooning after being injured in World War II, became a beloved local figure. Following his death, fans raised public funds to commemorate him with a statue. Art students Tony Morrow and Nick Gillan created the sculpture, which was erected in 1992. It is believed to be the only statue in the world featuring a two-legged horse, celebrating a unique piece of Glasgow’s cultural and comedic heritage.
