Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in memory of a beautiful large magnolia tree that used to stand on the grounds of the old Simpsonville City Park.

Before I got into geocaching, I thought trees were just trees, but now I have a gained appreciation for them and all the different kinds, and it's safe to say that magnolia trees have become my favorite. There were a couple physical caches placed at this tree but they ultimately got muggled. I always thought that, if I had ever gotten one of those virtual cache rewards, I would use it to make a virtual at the tree.

(Google Map view, October 2022)

Some time in late 2022 or early 2023, the city of Simpsonville began construction of new government buildings and also redesigning the city park. The magnolia tree was dug up to clear way for the new project. The city park reopened in 2024 under the new name Gracely Park. The park has a walking trail, picnic shelter, basketball court, tennis/pickleball courts, and now it has a geocache!

I gave this cache a 2.5 difficulty not just because of the muggle activity but because the cache is a nano. If you're familiar with nanos, you know they can be little buggers to try to find. I hid it somewhere that is a common spot for cachers to put a nano.
