Do you know the difference between garbage and trash? "Garbage" refers to food waste specifically, which is distinguished from "trash" or municipal solid waste which is generally everything else.
The Ketchikan Solid Waste Facility (not technically called the dump) near GZ is primarily the landfill, has evolved from a basic waste disposal site to a more comprehensive system. It currently includes a landfill for regular waste, a concrete grinding operation for road material, and composting for yard waste and waste water sludge , a shredder for confidential paperwork, an incinerator for extra confidential materials and invasive weeds, and a hazardous materials area. They also do an annual Free Dump Week to encourage Speing Cleanup, according to KRBD.
