An interesting location I found whilst cycling down this quiet little lane. You can also find this cache as a quick drive by or on foot.
There's a plaque at GZ which reads:
“Ar garreg a safai yma gynt y pregethwyd gyntaf gan y Methodistiaid Calfinaidd yn yr ardal hon 1775.”
In English, this would translate to:
“On a stone which once stood here, the Calvinistic Methodists first preached in this area 1775.”
During the 18th century, Wales experienced a 'Methodist Revival', which eventually led to the establishment of the Presbyterian Church of Wales (AKA Calvinistic Methodists). The church went on to become the largest Christian denomination in Wales, and its influence can still be felt throughout the region (Welsh capels are often named after places in the Bible rather than dedicated to particular saints — this explains the names of many settlements in the area, such as Carmel, Bethesda, Bethel, Nebo, and Saron. It also explains why many towns and villages have a capel but no church).
It's interesting to consider the small part this remote location played in shaping modern Welsh culture and religion. The cache shouldn't be too hard to find, it's more about the location here!
