Welcome to On the Way to SEC — a 6-cache geocaching series that follows a quiet, scenic walking trail with a secret just below the surface. While you’re strolling toward the bustling South Edmonton Common, you’re actually walking along the top of a major underground pipeline corridor!
This clever strip of land has been transformed into a park-like pathway — a green corridor through neighborhoods and natural areas, offering space for walking, biking, birdwatching, or just catching your breath before diving into the shopping chaos of SEC.
🗺️ The series includes six geocaches, spaced out along the trail and leading you ever closer to one of the largest open-air retail developments in North America. The hides are beginner to intermediate level — nothing extreme — and perfect for a casual caching session.
🧩 Whether you’re knocking these off in one go or grabbing them piece by piece, we hope this trail offers a bit of calm, curiosity, and fun.
✅ All containers are similar and easy to spot for attentive geocachers. BYOP (bring your own pen), and watch out for muggles — this is a well-used path!
💡 Fun fact: Although you’re walking through a quiet greenbelt, you’re also following a vital piece of infrastructure that helps power our region — proof that city planning and recreation can go hand in hand.
Enjoy the hunt, and we’ll see you On the Way to SEC!
