AUTOSTRADA A4

- AGOGNATE (ad ovest), che immetteva sulla SP299 della Valsesia, giungendo nel quartiere Santa Rita;
- GALLIATE (ad est), che immetteva direttamente nei vicini paesi di Galliate e Romentino, giungendo a Novara tramite la frazione Pernate e quindi nel quartiere Sant'Agabio;

A4 HIGHWAY
The A4 Torino-Trieste highway is the third longest one in Italy, after the A1 (a.k.a. the Sun's highway) and the A14 (the Adriatic sea's highway).
The Torino-Milano section, the name by which it is often referred to in these parts, was begun in april 1930 and opened in october 1932: it was a single 8-meter carriageway, with one lane in each direction.
In the 1950s, the width was increased to 10 meters and then the doubling to two carriageways with two lanes began, inaugurated in 1962.
In the same year, the iconic bridge restaurant over the highway was also inaugurated in Novara, one of the 14 built in Italy.
Given the increase in traffic, at the end of the 1960s was taken the decision to eliminate the emergency lane in order to obtain three lanes, which were, however, narrower, providing only occasional lay-bys for emergency stops.
This leads to an increase in danger, and the highway arrives in this condition at the new millennium.
In view of the 2006 Winter Olympics Games in Torino, and the associated construction of the high-speed railway, it was decided to modernise and widen it to 4 lanes plus an emergency lane, work which brought it to its current appearance in 2017.

NOVARA's TOLL BOOTHS
Historically, Novara was served by three toll stations:
- AGOGNATE (west), which led onto the Provincial Road n°299 of Sesia valley, arriving in the Santa Rita district;
- GALLIATE (east), which led directly into the nearby villages of Galliate and Romentino, arriving in Novara via the hamlet of Pernate and then into the Sant'Agabio district;
- NOVARA (in the center), which led onto Corso della Vittoria, between Veveri and Sant'Andrea districts, and is the one mentioned in this cache.
Three well-designed locations that led directly to areas of interest, taking advantage of existing infrastructures and without using pharaonic junctions.
The old Novara toll station was only 2 km from the center, making possible to get there quickly: from the current Novara East and Novara West toll stations, the route is about three times long.
The owner personally remembers using this toll station, the preferred entrance to Milano (as Mario Pavesi road did not yet exist) to save a little on the toll.
It was and still is an interchange for those using the Autostradale (bus running on highway), as it has a good car park and is also served by city buses.
At the end of the millennium however, the decision was made to build the Milano-Torino high-speed railway, parallel to the A4, and the tollbooth was in practice closed.
It would no longer physically fit on its southern side, occupied by the tracks, unless a fair chunk of houses and industries were demolished to make room for it, in addition to those already earmarked for the railway itself.
Already in 1994 the new Novara East toll station was under construction, which will replace Galliate but will lengthen the route.
Here you can read an article where it is discussed along with other motorways.
In 2003 it was the turn of the old Novara tollbooth to retire, but the interchange car park remained, which will be subject to work to bring it to its current appearance between 2013 and 2017.
Practically nothing has survived as it was in the original, except for the fences to the north.
THE CACHE
The listing coordinates are fictitious: use the indicated parking lot and walk to the coordinates of WP1, the routes are all barrier-free.
The cache has only one step, which once solved will take you directly to the final.
You don't have to do any calculations or reasoning, the clue itself will already tell you everything, you just have to find who will interpret it for you.
IMPORTANT
Once you have found the cache (it has the GC symbol on it), pick it up and go somewhere else to log in.
You will need a normal-sized Phillips or slotted screwdriver to open it.
To say as Doc Brown: “sorry about the crudeness of the rubber stamp, I made it by hand”.
The rubber stamp is not exchangeable and must always remain inside the cache in its pouch.
I have also inserted an ink pad, but I can't guarantee that it will be always soaked.
Carefully close the waterproof bags and the cache itself, putting it back as you found it.
