Geocache Description:

Store Dyrehave, South East of Hillerød

The stash is located in the beautiful Forest "Store Dyrehave." The Forest was founded in the early 1600, and at that time used as as reservoir for fresh deer meat to the Royal Family. The peculiar road layout, with all roads leading to the center of the Forest (called "The Star" or Stjernen in Danish) was made to ease the deer hunting. (More info at this site (in Danish))

You can approach the stash from any side of the Forest, but I recommend to take road 201 from Birkerød towards Hillerød. You can then pick one of the many parking places next to the Forest.

If you meet a Fence, don't climb it! There is a small closed area in the Forest, and the stash is not in that area.

Initial Stash contents (2001):

  • "First Finders" Certificate signed by the Stash Founder. Off course the first finder can take this
  • A CD with StarOffice v 5.2
  • A rb3 player (runs on gravity -if you have visited reboot you may know what this is)
  • A key ring
  • A small toy snake
  • A tin of Kippers (in honor of the first cache founder in Denmark)
  • Some sweets
  • The log Book, with a pencil

Update (2013):

After more that 10 years on the initial location, the cache hide has been more and more exposed due to forest work, and development of paths in the forest, so I have moved the cache 15-20 meters to a better location.

It is also in a new aluminium box with lots of room. Hopefully the box will be able to withstand the danish weather.

Update (2015):

Had to replace the box from 2013 since it could not keep the content dry. It's now an ammo box.
