Geocache Description:

Powell St Split

Location

At the junction where Cordova St and Powell St meet is a tiny piece of public land with a few benches. Coordinates are approximate

Cache Description

Cache is on/near/with a man-made item - no need to mess around with the trees. If the logbook has become wet, please note in the comments so I can replace. If you find a small piece of red electrical tape in a potential spot but no logbook with it, also put that in the comments because it means the logbook has been taken/lost/destroyed.

Warning

Please exercise due caution getting here. There are two ways to approach, both with labeled crosswalks, but those cars are going fast and not particularly expecting pedestrians in the area. Also note that there is often various forms of rubbish strewn about, sometimes glass or other sharp things.

Extra Background Location Info

With cars whizzing by on 2 sides, it's one of the loudest public spaces in the city. But if you can handle the noise, you'll be treated to one of the better views across the across the harbour and over to Grouse Mountain. There are of course plenty of great views going that way. What there are few to none of are places to see the cranes swinging at the port, the trains rolling in (and back out), and the old Rogers Sugar factory, a brick factory built in 1890 and still in use today. Sugar refinement here became Vancouver's first major industry outside of pure resource extraction (logging, fishing). For those interested, a brief history of the factory, company, and Rogers family can be found here
