Where: Near the Mersey Yachy Club, East Devonport, eastern side
When: Wednesday 28 May, 10:15am to 11:15am
In late April we held a CITO on the foreshore near the Mersey Yacht Club. A great deal of rubbish was removed and the environment was a vast improvment on what it had been previously. However, some participants also noted that there was rubbish on the eastern side of the car park. Hence, the second CITO in the area. Unlike the previous CITO location on the foreshore, the terrain for this one is level.
We thought that we would try a midweek CITO - haven't had one before - and see what response we might get. Hence the change from a weekend CITO.
It is an ideal opportunity for geocachers to catchup with one another and share information about existing and possible new caches for the coming months.
If this is your first CITO between 1st March 2025 and 31st May 2025, you will receive the CITO 2025 Season 1 Souvenir after logging your attendance at this event - it will be your last opportunity.
The CITO will be followed by an event at a nearby location. CITO participants may wish to stay on for the event. Cachers who could not make the CITO may wish to come to the event at the nearby venue commencing at 11:30am.
Meeting Place: At the posted coordinates.
What To Bring: As well as sturdy footwear, hats and water, you will need to bring gloves and garbage bags to collect rubbish that is in the open or under trees. Please bring any other "tools" that may be helpful, such as a telescopic grabber.
Rubbish Disposal: 2y'stassies will arrange for disposal of the collected rubbish. They will also bring a container appropriate for the storage of any sharps (syringes etc) so that these dangerous items can be collected safely and are not included in general rubbish collections.
Other Options: There will be a CITO Event logbook available during the event for those who would like to sign it.
Parking: There is ample parking close adjacent to the published coordinates.
Horrendous Weather: The event will go ahead even if it is raining, a possible occurrence at this time of the year. However, if the weather is horrendous, an announcement about an alternative venue will be made early on the morning of the CITO
Please make every effort to come along, even if you can only manage to be there for part of the time.
