Watch The Solstice Sunset 2025
It’s that time of year again!
The June solstice marks the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere.
No matter where you are, the solstice symbolises change and represents a turning point in the year. It’s a time to celebrate, a time to reflect, and a time to look forward to what will come! Whether you experience a summer solstice or winter solstice this June, join us in celebration with a new geocaching souvenir!

The solstice happens twice a year as the Earth’s poles tilt away or towards the sun, changing the distribution of the Sun’s rays on each hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the longest day and the beginning of summer. In the Southern Hemisphere, this is the shortest day and the start of winter. On 20th June 2025, sunrise will be at 6:59 AM and sunset will be at 4:53 PM. There will be 9 hours and 54 minutes of daylight. At 11:53 AM the sun will be at it's highest point in the sky, when it will be only 33º above the horizon. This happens to be the latitude south of the equator for Sydney.
Join us to watch the sunset over Botany Bay.
The solstice symbolises change and represents a turning point in the year. It’s a time to celebrate, a time to reflect, and a time to look forward to what will come! With the Winter Solstice this June, join in celebration.
