A quick multi on a little used public footpath.
I've driven down Up Hatherly Way several times a week for the last 20 years but only spotted the stile leading to this footpath while looking on Street View one day. Having taken a wander and found a little bridge it seemed like a waste for there not to be a geocache here... so now there is!
The road that you'll need to cross from the suggested parking gets very busy during rush hour. Be careful if crossing with small children. Alternatively you could wander/park a little further down towards Chargrove Lane and make a longer walk of it along that road.
The cache is a 50ml round pot. There is no pen in the cache so please remember to bring your own.
The posted co-ordinates will take you to a little bridge. Here:
A = The number of large rusty screwheads on one end of the bridge (there are the same number on each end).
BC = The number of wooden planks making up the floor of the bridge itself (don't count the step on either end).
The cache is just a short walk away.
Final co-ordinates:
N51 52.(A-B)(A-B-C)(B+B)
W002 06.(A+B)(B+C)B
The Little Bridges series was started by Stanthews in 2009 to highlight small footbridges in remote parts of Wiltshire. Since then, the series has been expanded by others all over the country and starting to spread fast. There is a stats listing, so you can see how many Little Bridges you have found, you can find it here: - Little Bridges Geocaching Series (littlebridgesseries.co.uk). If you would like to add to the series, please go to this site, on the tab Get Involved click number request and fill in the form. To qualify, the bridge must be a foot bridge too small for vehicles, please make sure your title exactly matches “Little Bridges # xxxx then the name” including spaces so it will get picked up and added to stats list.
