This cache is a tribute to my father in-law Tom Eaton aka Grandpa Tom, for as long as I knew him he was a grumpy old man .... that is until his twin grandaughters were born. He was so excited to be a grandpa that he could not contain his joy! His grandaughters were his pride and joy, he often said that they added years to his life! While I was a stay at home dad for the first 18 months and working as a bike mechanic in Silverdale, he would drive down from Forks every week to help out with the girls. He would then drive back to Forks for a couple of days and then be back again when he was needed. Many times during his visits we would load the girls up in their car seats pick up cachenscary and make it a day of geocaching. While he really didn't care about the geocaching he did enjoy spending time with his grandaughters as well as exploring all of the different places that geocaching would take us.
One of Tom's other passions was walking Rialto Beach, just down the road from his longtime home, he really enjoyed searching for special rocks while beach walking. He would find these special rocks of all shapes and sizes and bring them back home. After sorting them he would then take the time to polish them in the 3 rocck tumblers that he had going basically 24/7. These polished rocks were one of his prized possessions. Over the years he managed to collect a lot and I mean a lot of these polished rocks!
If September of 2023 Grandpa Tom passed away after a long but valiant battle with cancer. He spend the last several months of his life living with us so that he could spend as much time as possible with his grandaughters. He is missed everyday and I have many great memories of geocaching with him and my daughters before they could even walk.
That brings me to this cache which is filled with just a small amount of the polished rocks that Grandpa Tom collected. I know that it would make him very happy if you took a few rocks and either kept them for yourself or gave them to somebody who you knew would appreciate them. We hope that they bring you as much joy and happiness as they brought him.
There are several different stamps in this cache, if you like one please take it.
I will do my best to keep it full of stamps!
