This Cache is placed as part of the 20255 New York State Park Central Region Geocache Challenge. There are approximately 80 geocaches hidden within 22 state parks and historic sites in this parks region, the first 150 people to find 45 or more caches will receive a special geocache challenge coin. Clark Reservation State Park is a geologic wonder of the last ice age and a botanist's paradise. The park's natural features include rugged cliffs and rocky outcrops, woodland and meadow, a wetland and a glacial plunge basin lake in which the surface waters and bottom waters do not mix.
Fishermen can catch pickerel, bullheads, and sunfish; while birdwatchers may observe cedar waxwings, kingfishers and woodpeckers.
Take the Mildred Faust trail down to the Dry Lake basin to find the hide. Do not attempt this from the upper portion of the trail. This is a lovely part of the park with rock ledges, an intermittent lake, and seasonal waterfall. The Trillium will be long past bloom come summertime, but it was beautiful in spring.
