Geocache Description:

Debellation refers to the complete and utter destruction of a hostile state or warring party, signifying the end of conflict through complete military defeat and the loss of sovereignty. It implies a situation where a belligerent nation has been so decisively conquered that its national institutions are shattered and no longer exist to challenge the victor.

A Viking saga is a prose narrative, typically written in Old Norse and preserved in Icelandic manuscripts, that recounts historical or legendary events of the Viking Age and surrounding periods.

The draugr is a corporeal undead creature from the sagas and folktales of the Nordic countries, with varying ambiguous traits. In the Icelandic sagas, from which most modern interest is garnered, draugrs live in their graves or royal palaces, often guarding treasure buried in their burial mound. They are revenants, or animated corpses, rather than ghosts, which possess intangible spiritual bodies.

In Old Norse, draugr also meant a tree trunk or dry dead wood, or in poetry could refer to a man or warrior, since Old Norse poetry often used terms for trees to represent humans, especially in kennings, referencing the myth that the god Odin and his brothers created the first humans Ask and Embla from trees. There was thus a connection between the idea of a felled tree's trunk and that of a dead man's corpse.

There is road side parking available for this cache. If you plan to do the entire series it might be better to cross the ditch here and walk the rest on flat ground.
