AND SO THE STORY GOES....
i heeded the last few finders advice and while it was still dry out I switched up the container..it has a new log book, lots of swag, still a fun hike to the cache bit it was sad to have to get rid of the original container from 2005 with such history and story. I've left the story below if you like oldies and want to read...otherwise I hope you continue to enjoy the cache..and so the story goes ....
STORY LANE park is a hidden gem in Saanich. It is mostly in its natural state with no labeled or designated trails so PLEASE be mindful of where you are walking. Its accessible from a few different trails that wander through the park itself and adjacent forest. I was fortunate enough to get permission from Saanich Parks to place a cache here.
Now about the cache itself and how the story goes..another treasure..at least it was to me when I found it. The container is from an archived THE X-TREME GPS Team hidden in 2005 called Paladin No. 2 Cache GCQQ0A. It was hidden on PKOLS (Mt. Doug) It was last found in Jan/23 and then with a string of DNF's archived in Feb/25. That is when I got it in my head wondering if it was still there...somewhere. I remember finding it back in Jan/22 so had a rough idea where to start my search. Sure enough...I got to GZ with no luck and then started searching on my way back out (as life would have it, heading the other way would have been a big uphill trudge and we know that wasn't going to happen
) As luck and geo senses would have it I found this oldie about 50m north of GZ ..a little musty and gunky inside but who isn't at that age! What a treat! I love oldies!! So home it came with me..dried that puppy out for a few months and when I got permission to hide in StoryLane Park I thought it the perfect place to hide this piece of geo history and share its story! I know there is more to this story. I see it was adopted in May/2011 by D-Tour and I see alot of caching names on the page that I recognize. Now what I am looking forward to is the stories that go with it. Looking forward to reading your logs and hearing stories at future events.
Its a fun container to see and read the outside of (that can lead to geo rabbit holes haha so you've been warned) Beides recycling the original container, I have recycled the last log book used and cleaned out some of my geo drawers for the swag. There's a number of unactivated TB's, maybe a coin or two. Help yourself but please don't take them all in one foul swoop..feel free to leave others.
Its an easy to get to cache, tho isolated there are still daily dog walkers wandering around so eyes up. (haha that is not a clue haha this is the easiest to find cache I have hidden...well except for the tree cover that messes with the GPS but you'll find it)
HAPPY CACHING and let's keep the story going
