[CZE] Na tichém místě v hloubi lesů jižních Čech se skrývá místo nesoucí jméno dávné Gabrety – starověkého pojmenování pro Šumavu, kde se prolíná minulost s přítomností, mýtus s realitou. Zde, na okraji dubového háje nad řekou Vltavou, byl v roce 1998 vztyčen první kámen, jenž dal vzniknout novodobému posvátnému kruhu. Autorem kamenného kruhu je Jan Fibiger zvaný Fíba, který toto výjimečné místo vytvořil vlastníma rukama.
Střed kruhu tvoří obětní kámen se symbolem Slunce, vyrytým ze čtyř spirál. Kolem něj se rozprostírá kruh čtyřiadvaceti kamenů. Na každém z nich je vytesána jedna runa staršího germánského futharku (runové abecedy). Další kruh tvoří osm větších kamenů, z nichž čtyři nesou vyobrazení severských bohů: Ódina, Thóra, Friggy a Freyi. Nejvzdálenější kruh z menších kamenů vymezuje posvátný prostor tohoto místa.
Ódin – Všeotec
Na severním kameni je vyobrazen Ódin, nejvyšší bůh severského panteonu, patron moudrosti, magie a válečného umění. Jeho atributy zahrnují dva havrany, Huginn a Muninn, kteří mu přinášejí zprávy z celého světa, a dva vlky, Geriho a Frekiho, kteří ho doprovázejí. Ódin obětoval své oko výměnou za moudrost. Také visel devět dní proklát oštěpem na světovém stromě Yggdrasil v oběti sám sobě, aby získal znalost run.
Thór – Ochránce Midgardu
Na jižním kameni je zobrazen Thór, bůh hromu a ochránce lidí. Jeho atributy zahrnují kladivo Mjölnir, opasek síly Megingjörð a železné rukavice Járngreipr. Thór je známý svou silou a odvahou v boji proti obrům a jiným hrozbám.
Freya – Bohyně lásky a magie
Na západním kameni je vyobrazena Freya, bohyně lásky, plodnosti a magie. Její atributy zahrnují náhrdelník Brísingamen, sokolí roucho a vůz tažený kočkami. Freya je také spojována s valkýrami a říší Folkvang, kde přijímá padlé bojovníky.
Frigga – Matka bohů a ochránkyně domova
Na východním kameni je vyobrazena Frigga, manželka Ódina a bohyně manželství, mateřství a domácího krbu. Její atributy zahrnují vřeteno a klíče, symbolizující její roli jako ochránkyně domácnosti. Frigga je matkou Baldra a je známá svou schopností předvídat budoucnost.
Ke keši
Vozidlo můžete zanechat na rozcestí asfaltové a lesní cesty podle vyznačeného waypointu a vydat se pěšky ke Gabretě. Keš je ukryta mírně stranou, aby se snížilo riziko odhalení v případě, že by se u kamenného kruhu konala nárazová setkání nebo obřady. Většinou tu však nikdo nebývá, a tak se můžete v tichu zastavit, ztišit mysl a nechat na sebe působit atmosféru tohoto výjimečného místa pod ochranou dávných severských bohů.
Pokud je přístup ke kamennému kruhu ztížen přerostlou vegetací, můžete využít přidaný waypoint stezky, který se nachází přibližně na půli cesty mezi parkovištěm a kruhem. Najdete zde hromadu kamení a vpravo od ní nenápadný vstup do lesa. Odtud vede pěšina, která vás bezpečně dovede až k cíli. Jen buďte opatrní – místy se mohou objevit bodláky.
Gabreta Stone Circle
[ENG] In a quiet spot deep in the forests of South Bohemia lies a place bearing the ancient name Gabreta – the classical term for the Bohemian Forest (Šumava), where past and present, myth and reality intertwine. Here, on the edge of an oak grove above the Vltava River, the first stone was raised in 1998, marking the beginning of a modern sacred circle. The stone circle was created by Jan Fibiger, known as Fíba, who built this remarkable place with his own hands.
At the center of the circle stands a sacrificial stone bearing a sun symbol made of four spirals. Surrounding it is a circle of twenty-four stones, each engraved with a rune of the Elder Futhark (a runic alphabet). A second circle contains eight larger stones, four of which are carved with images of Norse gods: Ódin, Thor, Frigg, and Freya. The outermost circle of smaller stones defines the sacred boundary of the site.
Ódin – Allfather
On the northern stone is depicted Ódin, the highest god of the Norse pantheon, patron of wisdom, magic, and war. His attributes include two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, who bring him news from across the world, and two wolves, Geri and Freki, who accompany him. Ódin sacrificed one of his eyes in exchange for wisdom and hung for nine days, pierced by a spear on the world tree Yggdrasil, offering himself to himself to gain knowledge of the runes.
Thor – Protector of Midgard
On the southern stone is depicted Thor, the god of thunder and protector of mankind. His attributes include the hammer Mjölnir, the belt of strength Megingjörð, and the iron gloves Járngreipr. Thor is known for his immense strength and bravery in battle against giants and other threats.
Freya – Goddess of Love and Magic
On the western stone is depicted Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, and magic. Her attributes include the necklace Brísingamen, a falcon cloak, and a chariot pulled by cats. Freya is also associated with the Valkyries and the realm of Fólkvangr, where she receives fallen warriors.
Frigg – Mother of the Gods and Guardian of the Home
On the eastern stone is depicted Frigg, wife of Ódin and goddess of marriage, motherhood, and the hearth. Her attributes include a spindle and keys, symbolizing her role as protector of the household. Frigg is the mother of Baldr and is known for her gift of foresight.
About the cache
You can leave your vehicle at the junction of the asphalt and forest roads, as indicated by the waypoint, and continue on foot to Gabreta. The cache is hidden slightly off to the side to reduce the risk of being discovered during occasional gatherings or ceremonies that might take place at the stone circle. Most of the time, however, no one is around, allowing you to pause in silence, quiet your mind, and absorb the atmosphere of this exceptional place under the protection of the ancient Norse gods.
If the access to the stone circle is obstructed by overgrown vegetation, you can use the additional trail waypoint, located approximately halfway between the parking area and the circle. There you'll find a pile of stones, and just to the right of it, a discreet entrance into the forest. From there, a footpath will lead you safely to the final location. Just watch out for occasional thistles along the way.
