Before you leave Mercer County behind, take a moment to stretch your legs, breathe that mountain air, and snag a smiley for your map!
This quick park-and-grab cache is hanging out at a travel plaza near the northernmost part of Mercer County. It’s here where rolling hills and hidden hollows whisper stories older than the Turnpike itself. With mountain streams, waterfalls, scenic trails, and Appalachian charm, this area is one of West Virginia’s best-kept secrets.
Mercer County has long been a land of crossings and contrasts: railroad towns and farmland, coal seams and creeks, steep ridges and sweeping views. It’s where stories stick to the hills and every mile holds a memory. This is the place we’re proud to call Almost Heaven.
Inside this container, a wooden FTF coin is waiting for one lucky adventurer. There’s only room for a log sheet and a small token, so BYOP. Please replace it as you found it for the next cacher’s visit.
Safe travels and thanks for visiting our little corner of West Virginia!
Congratulations Scouter James1948 and Stonecoldxxl for FTF!!
