This geocache is placed on the Angas Street bridge, which does not have any known history. From aerial imagery, we can see it dates back to before 1930, possibly built by the Meadowbank Manufacturing Company.
The area to the north of the bridge used to be occupied by the Meadowbank Manufacturing Company which produced many products ranging from agricultural implements such as horse-rakes, wheat separators, and ploughs, all the way to tramcars and railway rolling stock, and also assembled Ford Model Ts. The manufacturing facilty shut down and was demolished due to the great depression in 1930, and is now occupied by TAFE NSW.
Here is historic aerial imagery from 1930, 1942, and current day showing the development of the area and also the bridge circled in white, and also a picture of the manufacturing workshops.
