Geocache Description:

Stone walls in New England are a result of a unique combination of geology, agricultural practices, and historical events. The region's hard, crystalline bedrock was scattered by retreating glaciers, leaving behind numerous stones. As early settlers cleared forests to create farmland, they moved these stones, using them to mark property boundaries and keep livestock contained. Over time, these walls became a defining feature of the New England landscape.
