Monegeetta
Monegeetta is a small Victorian Rural Location within the local government area of Macedon Ranges, it is located approximately 49kms from Melbourne covering an area of 25.752 square kilometres. Monegeetta has a recorded population of 218 residents located between the major towns of Sunbury and Romsey in fertile agricultural land east of the Macedon Ranges.
Monegeetta and Bolinda were part of original Clarke family run.
Monegeetta was a small settlement where the tracks to Riddell, Chintin and Darraweit Guim joined the Melbourne Lancefield Road. The heavy traffic necessitated constant maintenance … so the Government established a network of tollgates on roads radiating from Melbourne. The Monegeetta tollgate opened in 1863, charging for a farthing every sheep, pig or goat. The town boasted a hotel, blacksmith and shops.
Monegeetta features Mintaro Homestead (1882), a smaller replica of Melbourne's Government House built by a Captain Gardiner.
The main facilities, used by the Land Engineering Agency of the Australian Department of Defense are located near the town. These facilities are used to test various military equipment's.
The town contains a CFA fire station and general store. At our last visit the General Store appears to be closed.
To find GZ for the cache, simply solve the 60 piece jigsaw below. Once at GZ, there is plenty of room to pull off the road.
