Cache ispirata alle cache GCMRK0 (Quattro passi per Carcare), GC1CEK9 (A flit around Footdee), GC6FP7P (Varenna step by step), and GC6T685 (Quattro passi per Abbadia) che sono tra le tipologie di multi che preferisco in assoluto: ti fanno fare un bel giro a piedi, mostrandoti nella sua interezza il luogo in cui sono nascoste. Potevo forse non metterne una a Porretta?
Questa cache è stata realizzata in collaborazione con Barbussa. Lei e il suo compagno hanno realizzato il manufatto finale, e insieme abbiamo ragionato sul nascondiglio. Speriamo vi piaccia!
La cache tocca alcuni dei posti più importanti del paese. Per completarla preparatevi ad impiegare almeno 1h30-2h e a camminare all’incirca per 6-7 km. Sarete sempre su asfalto, quindi non avrete bisogno di attrezzatura da trekking. Tenete conto del fatto che due step non sono sempre accessibili, trovandosi uno dentro un parco e uno dentro un santuario.
Ma ora passiamo ai numeri da raccogliere. I 10 waypoints possono essere raggiunti nell’ordine che preferite. Gli ultimi due non sono accessibili 24/7.
Step 1: Monumento ai caduti
Coordinate: N 44° 09.334′ E 10° 58.588′
Si tratta di un monumento eretto per ricordare i caduti della prima guerra mondiale, situato nella piazza principale del paese.
Da trovare: A = Somma delle 4 cifre dell’anno dopo "X AGOSTO", in numeri romani.
Step 2: Solomon Burke Bridge
Coordinate: N 44° 09.345′ E 10° 58.648′
Porretta si conferma sempre di più la città del soul. Non solo grazie al festival, ma anche grazie alla toponomastica. Quest'opera è dedicata ad uno dei padri fondatori del genere musicale e con cui il Soul Festival ebbe inizio.
Da trovare: B = Somma delle 4 cifre dell’anno di ricostruzione del ponte.
Step 3: Ex Casa del Fascio
Coordinate: N 44° 09.244′ E 10° 58.503′
Non lasciatevi ingannare dall'aspetto: questo edificio è stato costruito durante il ventennio!
Da trovare: C = Numero civico del Nucleo Carabinieri Forestale.
Step 4: Via Borgolungo
Coordinate: N 44° 09.270′ E 10° 58.518′
Caratteristica via medievale, anche se molto probabilmente qui esisteva già un centro abitato in epoca classica, siccome le proprietà curative delle acque di Porretta erano già note.
Da trovare: D = Somma delle cifre dell’unico anno leggibile sulla lastra (la terza è un 9).
Step 5: Chiesa Santa Maria Maddalena
Coordinate: N 44° 09.278′ E 10° 58.472′
Vista panoramica. Inoltre, se la trovate aperta, fate un giro all'interno, non ve ne pentirete.
Da trovare: Cercate la targa a sinistra dell’entrata: “Fu collocato in chiesa nel XXXX”. E = Somma delle cifre dell’anno.
Step 6: Monumento al Maresciallo Mascarenhas De Morais
Coordinate: N 44° 09.246′ E 10° 58.433′
In ricordo dei soldati brasiliani caduti combattendo su queste montagne durante la seconda guerra mondiale.
Da trovare: F = Somma delle cifre dell’anno in basso a destra sul pannello informativo.
Step 7: Antiche Terme
Coordinate: N 44° 09.220′ E 10° 58.362′
Attualmente in stato di abbandono, ma con progetti di ristrutturazione in corso... Forse.
Da trovare: G = Numero civico sulla colonna destra.
Step 8: Nuove Terme
Coordinate: N 44° 09.064′ E 10° 58.933′
Per gli amanti dell'architettura brutalista.
Da trovare: H = Numero di assi verticali che compongono la “H” nera circondata da una “C” verde (Contate solo quelle sulla H).
Step 9: Parco termale

ATTENZIONE! Orario di apertura: Lun-Dom 9:00-18:00
Accessibile unicamente passando per lo step 8. Il cancello che da sulla strada principale è inspiegabilmente chiuso. Cercate il monumento e osservate la targa.

Step 10: Sacrario del Cestista

Santuario dedicato alla Madonna del Cestista: un luogo particolare e unico al mondo. Entrate, andate a destra e cercate la targa alla memoria di Giovanni Falchi.

This cache was inspired by GCMRK0 (Quattro passi per Carcare), GC1CEK9 (A flit around Footdee), GC6FP7P (Varenna step by step), and GC6T685 (Quattro passi per Abbadia) — some of my all-time favorite multi caches. They take you on a beautiful walk through the entire area where they are hidden. So… how could I not place one in Porretta?
This cache was created in collaboration with Barbussa. She and her partner crafted the final container, and together we chose the perfect hiding spot. We hope you enjoy it!
The cache brings you to some of the most significant places in town. To complete it, expect to walk for about 1.5 to 2 hours and cover roughly 6–7 km. The route is entirely on paved roads, so no hiking gear is needed. Keep in mind that two stages are not always accessible, as one is inside a park and another inside a sanctuary.
Now it’s time to collect some numbers. You can visit the 10 waypoints in any order. Just remember: the last two are not accessible 24/7.
Step 1: War Memorial
Coordinates: N 44° 09.334′ E 10° 58.588′
This monument commemorates the fallen of the First World War. You'll find it in the main square of the town.
To find: A = Sum of the 4 digits in the year after "X AGOSTO" (written in Roman numerals).
Step 2: Solomon Burke Bridge
Coordinates: N 44° 09.345′ E 10° 58.648′
Porretta is known as the city of soul music — not just for its festival, but also in its street names. This bridge is dedicated to one of the genre’s pioneers and a key figure in the festival’s history.
To find: B = Sum of the 4 digits of the bridge’s reconstruction year.
Step 3: Former "Casa del fascio"
Coordinates: N 44° 09.244′ E 10° 58.503′
Don’t be misled by appearances: this building was erected during fascism.
To find: C = Street number of the Forest Carabinieri Unit (Nucleo Carabinieri Forestale).
Step 4: Via Borgolungo
Coordinates: N 44° 09.270′ E 10° 58.518′
A narrow medieval street. According to some sources, Porretta was known for its healing waters even in classical times, so it's possible that a settlement was already here at the time of Ancient Rome.
To find: D = Sum of the digits of the only legible year on the stone slab (the third digit is a 9).
Step 5: Church of Santa Maria Maddalena
Coordinates: N 44° 09.278′ E 10° 58.472′
From here you’ll get a stunning view over the town. If the church is open, step inside — it’s worth it.
To find: E = Sum of the digits in the year shown on the plaque to the left of the entrance: “Fu collocato in chiesa nel XXXX”.
Step 6: Monument to Marshal Mascarenhas De Morais
Coordinates: N 44° 09.246′ E 10° 58.433′
In memory of the Brazilian soldiers who died fighting in these mountains during World War II.
To find: F = Sum of the digits of the year in the lower right corner of the info panel.
Step 7: Old Thermal Baths
Coordinates: N 44° 09.220′ E 10° 58.362′
Currently abandoned — though there have been talks of restoration, things seem to be at a standstill.
To find: G = Street number on the right-hand column.
Step 8: New Thermal Baths
Coordinates: N 44° 09.064′ E 10° 58.933′
Still in use today. Fans of post-war brutalist architecture will appreciate this spot.
To find: H = Number of vertical bars that make up the black “H” surrounded by a green “C”. (Only count the bars of the H)
Step 9: Thermal Park
Coordinates: N 44° 09.016′ E 10° 58.962′
Note: Open daily 9:00–18:00
Accessible only from Step 8. The main gate from the street is closed for some dumb reason. Find the monument and read the plaque.
To find: I = Sum of the digits in the year Ciancabilla became Professor of Mining Technologies.
Step 10: Shrine of the Basketball Player (Cestista)
Coordinates: N 44° 08.928′ E 10° 59.070′
Note: Open daily 8:30–17:00
This small sanctuary is dedicated to the "Madonna del Cestista". Go inside, turn right, and find the plaque in memory of Giovanni Falchi.
To find: J = Sum of the digits in the year the plaque was placed.
Step 11: Final location
