Geocache Description:


On 5 April 2015, Stanthorpe was the site for the QLD Mega GC4X31B the first Mega-Event in Queensland. Many geocaches were placed to help celebrate the Mega, including the Geo-Art Stans Apple.

On 1st January 2025, Stans Apple was harvested, marking not the end, but now a new batch of caches waiting to be picked.

Apple Crumble – Edible Garden

Ingredients

  

  • Apples - 500gm about 2-3 medium-sized apples
  • Wheat flour / atta - 1 cup
  • Salted butter - 100gm + a bit for greasing
  • Sugar - 2tbsp + 2 tbsp
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Lemon juice - a few drops optional
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 optional

Instructions

 Pre-heat oven to 350F / 180C

  1. Wash, peel, and chop the apples into small cubes. Add a few drops of lemon juice to prevent browning
  2. Mix in 2tbsp sugar and cook on a low fire until soft and mushy. Set aside to cool
  3. Mix salt and 2 tbsp sugar with the flour
  4. Lightly mix in the butter without kneading until you get a mixture that resembles bread crumbs.
  5. Grease a pie dish/cake tray with butter
  6. Lay the cooked apples evenly
  7. Add the flour mixture evenly on top and press down gently
  8. Sprinkle sugar on top.
  9. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350F/180C for 25-30 mins

Serve warm with chilled vanilla custard sauce
