About SideTracked

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breathtaking view. It's simply a cache-and-dash distraction for the weary public transport user, which can be found at or near train stations, former train stations, and miniature railroads. There are currently over 4,500 SideTracked caches in more than 30 countries around the world. More information can be found on the SideTracked series website.

About This Station

The Sierra Madre Villa station is part of the A Line of the LA Metro Rail System from Pasadena to Azusa. An extension to Pomona is expected to be completed in 2025, with further extension to Montclair by 2028. Passenger service at Sierra Madre Villa began on July 26, 2003, and it was the end of the line until 2016.

The station was designed by artist Tony Gleaton. Its structure features large photo portraits that are suspended above the platform access stairways. Printed on two double-sided porcelain enamel steel panels and visible from both directions, the blue-toned portraits echo the blue enclosure of the bridge, and depict local inhabitants the artist describes as “the others.” These photographs reflect the distinct differences and diversity between us all, and mirror the connecting glance, embrace, and human emotion we share and understand together. The pedestrian bridge, as well as the structural beams and posts of the station, are painted in a blue color scheme. The station's 965-space parking structure was designed by artist Beth Thielen and follows a theme of "nature and movement."
