Solve the puzzle to find the cache
The River Avon Heritage Trail runs from Avonbridge in the West, to Linlithgow in the East, in total about 9.5 miles. This cache series covers the stretch between Avonbridge and the Avon Gorge Bridge near Torphichen. You can join the Heritage Trail at a limited number of places along this stretch - from West to East, these places are:
- Avonbridge - Blackston Road - N 55° 56.198′ W 3° 44.265′
- Strath Mill Bridge - N 55° 56.120' W 003° 43.100'
- Crawhill Farm - N 55° 56.199' W 003° 41.215' (parking is 600m away at Westfield Roundabout)
- Avon Gorge Bridge - N 55° 56.444' W 003° 40.530'
There are parking waypoints near each of these joining points, on the nearest caches in the series.
There are a number of older existing caches along this particular stretch of the Heritage Trail, which are generally in good condition, at the time of this series publication. The trail itself is an easy-going walk, bridges and steps are mostly in passable but not always great condition, however there are parts where the path becomes quite a faint trail. There's a couple of steeper stretches near Westfield Viaduct.
The only safety considerations are to watch out for the stretch immediately west of Westfield Viaduct - toward Avonbridge - as the Heritage Trail passes along the edge of a field at one point, and there are sometimes curious cows in there.

The published coordinates are for the bridge at Strath Mill, the old corn mill itself is now a private residence. There are some fantastic old mill ruins along the River Avon, keep an eye out for them as you walk the trail.
